An interactive Customer Portal using the latest Microsoft Silverlight technology  

In the transportation business, a younger, tech-savvy generation is quickly replacing the older generation that historically relied little on modern computing technology. The client company wanted to create a new platform for communicating with this generation; a web 2.0 platform that would get them excited about doing business with their company. Small Footprint helped the client turn this high-level concept into a detailed functional plan. We began by creating a prototype to help generate awareness and understanding of the concept across all departments within the client company. 

The resultant Customer Portal is a unique tool that provides a consolidated view of business transactions and data in near real time, useful functionality for day-to-day business operations like requesting rates or tracking shipments, standardized reporting capabilities, and more. The Customer Portal gives Customers new and interactive ways to connect with their Account Manager and their Customer Service Representatives.  Additionally, business relationships have been strengthened through the use of popular web 2.0 social networking tools like chatting and texting. The Customer Portal sends a clear message to the Client's customers, and to their competitors as well, that they are a modern and dynamic company with a clear vision for how technology can benefit their customers and their overall business.  Additionally, the Customer Portal has allowed the company to expand the “operating hours” of their business in easy and affordable way.
