  • The Engagement Manager understands the Client business and owns the Client problem. EMs are responsible for determining how to bring the best of Small Footprint’s capabilities to the client to solve the Client problem and deliver value to Client’s business. The EM is the hub and center of coordinating business understanding and managing the day-to-day software development activities of the entire development team. EM ensure that engagements stay on track and are focused on delivering value, and that Client interactions are always professional and Client expectations are met.


  • Developing and maintaining excellent Client relationships by understanding Client’s business and serving as a champion of their success
  • Defining clear requirements based upon clients’ desired business outcomes
  • Creating documentation, including story-based backlogs, technical diagrams, wireframes, screen mock-ups, workflow diagrams, etc.)
  • Managing and prioritizing the backlog in conjunction with the customer
  • Collaborating with the Client and the engineering team (architects, designers, developers and test engineers)
  • Communicating plans, priorities and status to the Client and engineering team members
  • Managing the overall progress of a project and the allocation of resources so that engagements are completed on schedule and stay within budget as per the SOW
  • Sharing knowledge and best practices with Clients, and continually learning and staying abreast of industry trends, etc.


Engagement Managers at Small Footprint are responsible for the overall success of our Clients’ software products. EMs typically manage multiple projects at a time and oversee the remote engineering team. The most qualified candidates will have:

  • Strong technical background in software development (5+ years)
  • High level of experience in one or more of the following specialized skills: business analysis, systems analysis, product management
  • Experience and proven effectiveness working collaboratively in a distributed team environment
  • Working knowledge of Agile software development methods and best practices
  • Good facilitation skills for information gathering and determining client business requirements
  • Ability to translate Client needs into solutions (functional requirements) that Small Footprint can deliver
  • Project management, planning, organizational and communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving mindset
  • Self-confidence and experience in a consultative, client-facing role
  • Highly enthusiastic, positive-minded, customer focused, service-orientated
